Brighton, Brisbane QLD 4017, Australia.
Brighton sits on the edge of Bramble Bay, an inlet within Moreton Bay, Brisbane. Drive from the south via Sandgate Road or the Gateway Motorway and enter a little slice of old world paradise. This region seems to have been forgotten in the hurly burly of modern living. Aerial photos of Brighton show mostly Queenslander homes, lovingly restored to their original splendour. This restful area is slowly becoming renovated as more young couples come to the seaside with its easy access to the greater Brisbane region. Dowse Lagoon is one of many lagoons dotting the district. Follow the Heritage Trail on foot to explore this diverse area. Start at the Sandgate Museum, taking in the old Town Hall and Post Office, circa 1857, to the Third Lagoon at Peace Park. Watch some cricket on the weekend at Curlew Park or enjoy a round of golf at the Sandgate Golf Club. Spend some time with a picnic or barbecue at Moora Park. Fish from the beach or hire a boat to fish over the sandbanks or up the Pine River. Drive across the three kilometre long Hornibrook Bridge to the Redcliffe Peninsula with its sandy beaches. There is much to do here for a day’s entertainment. Swim, picnic, shop, play sport or, for the fit, try your hand at the popular pastime of kitesurfing
