Home to 'The Tree of Knowledge', Barcaldine has a rich history, which is displayed in the Barcaldine and District Historical Museum and the Australian Worker’s Heritage Centre. With most of the town covered in ghost gums and ironbark, Barcaldine is one of the lushest outback towns in Queensland. Barcaldine, also known as Barcy (Pronounced as 'Barky) is well known for the 'The Tree of Knowledge, which is now not just a ghost gum but a sculpture that could be described as Australia’s largest wind chime.
