Cairns, Queensland, Australia

Cairns is on the east coast of Far North Queensland, and is a city that was formed to serve the miners of Hodgkinson River goldfield but declined when an easier route was discovered from Port Douglas. Cairns is a popular tourist destination because of its tropical climate and access to tropical rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, one of the several natural wonders of the world.

It is located on the east coast of Cape York Peninsulaon a coastal strip between the Coral Sea and the Great Diving Range.
