Rich in minerals and agriculture, Central Highlands is an outback region located near the centre of Queensland. The region has an area of about 60 000 square kilometres, making it nearly as large as Tasmania. With the thirteen suburbs, Arcadia Valley, Bauhinia, Blackwater, Bluff, Capella, Comet, Dingo, Duaringa, Emerald, Rolleston, Sapphire Gemfields, Springsure and Tieri, Central Highlands has a population of approximately 30 000 people. The Central Highlands has the largest sapphire mine in the entire Southern Hemisphere. Located in Central Highlands, Carnarvon Gorge is one of the most visited national parks in Central Queensland.
