These impressive aerial photographs show the Gateway Motorway as one of the main feeder roads into Bracken Ridge. The suburb is also well served by the Gympie Arterial, Sandgate Road and the integrated bus and rail system operating throughout Brisbane. Within twenty kilometres of the Brisbane CBD, Bracken Ridge was named for the bracken which grew everywhere here before development. Cyclists revel in the extensive pathways throughout the region, even venturing so far as Sandgate, Brighton and to Toombul Shopping Centre in the south. The Boondall Wetlands are accessible from these paths or by road. They form a chain of coastal wetlands and are a favourite haunt of international migratory birds from September to March. Take your binoculars for a great day out! Shoppers will delight in nearby Taigum Shopping Centre on Beams Road or Strathpine Shopping Centre with its many charming boutiques and cinemas. Bracken Ridge has a strong sense of community, great public and private schools and numerous parks. The Bracken Ridge Campus of TAFE allows further study after school is finished.
