Named after William Deagon one of the early Mayors of Sandgate, Deagon is a family orientated suburb, popular with young couples and young families. Approximately 95% of the dwellings are stand-alone older style homes. Deagon is situated16 Kilometres from the centre of Brisbane, and has great access to the Deagon Deviation and the Gateway Arterial Road, which runs through the western side of the suburb. The Horton Highway and Hornibrook Bridge allows easy access to the foreshore of Shorncliffe and Clontarf. Deagon has a fantastic community feel with many parks and sports facilities. The nearby Boondall wetlands provides great walking and bicycle tracks as well as wonderful opportunities to observe the wildlife of the wetlands, and the nearby creeks such as Cabbage Tree Creek and Third Lagoon. Schools are nearby with Bracken Ridge, Bald Hills, Sandgate and Nudgee providing both primary and Secondary Education.
