Mudjimba, Sunshine Coast QLD 4564, Australia.
The wonderful turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean are shown here in these beautiful sky-high photographs. Take the David Low Highway from the Sunshine Coast Airport or drive north from Maroochydore, over the Maroochy River, through Marcoola, to Mudjimba, a small village nestled on the shores of the ocean. Just ten kilometres from the fabulous shopping at Maroochydore, Mudjimba offers a romantic hideaway or family camping away from the hustle and bustle of larger communities on the Sunshine Coast. It is an excellent place to base your stay with its quick and easy access to all the beaches and amenities on the Coast. Spend some time strolling the sandy beach, with its view of Mudjimba Island, or Old Woman Island as it is known due to an Aboriginal dream time story. Experienced surfers have been known to paddle the kilometre out to the Island for the surfing here. Fishermen will need a power boat to catch the tuna, taylor and reef fish here. Best access is via the Mooloolaba River to the south. After swimming and surfing to your hearts’ content, a short drive north will bring you to the Mount Coolum National Park where you can enjoy a walk among the wallum heath. Climb the mountain from the car park for spectacular views of the surrounding region. The 800 metre walk is steep in places but well worth the effort. Join the local sporting fans at the North Shore Multi-Sport Complex, on Mudjimba Beach Road. Watch a game of baseball or AFL. Although Mudjimba is small, there is still plenty to do for locals and holiday makers alike.
