Golden Beach runs for several kilometres along the mainland shore of the Pumicestone Passage, shown here in these exquisite aerial photographs. This stunning scenery shows the northern end of Bribie Island, where beach camping with a permit is allowed. Golden Beach is unpatrolled but is protected by Bribie Island. It is best to watch the children as the current can be quite strong. Bulcock Beach in the heart of Caloundra has the best still water swimming and has life guards in season. Fishing is one of the best pastimes here and provides an easy start for younger children. Catch some bream, flathead or winter whiting. Hire a tinnie to get out to the sand banks for the best catches or to explore the Bribie Island National Park. A walk along the foreshore of Golden Beach will take a couple of hours. There are several parks along the way where you may picnic or the children can have a play. Enjoy the views over the Glass House Mountains. Book yourself in for a game of bowls at the Pelican Waters Bowls Club or a round of golf at the Caloundra Golf Course. Cruise up the Bruce Highway to visit such local attractions as Australia Zoo and the Big Kart Track. Spend a day up in the Blackall Range, where you will delight in shopping at Montville’s unique boutiques.
