After rain, drive along the David Low Way and watch for the water cascading from the cliffs of Mount Coolum, shown here in these marvellous aerial photographs. Mt Coolum National Park covers most of the Mountain and there is an eight hundred metre track to the top from the eastern car park. This is only for the fit and healthy as, to climb this wonderful dome, it is a steep climb. The lower slopes are home to montane heath, coastal wallum and open eucalypt forest. Nestled at the foot of Mt Coolum, golfers will be delighted to play the Mt Coolum Golf Course, also known as Yaroomba Golf Course. This relatively flat course offers great play amid picturesque splendour. Just turn into Lumeah Drive off Suncoast Beach Drive. If playing a PGA courses thrills you, then head on over to the Hyatt Regency, Coolum. There is plenty to do at this resort with its 150 hectares and two kilometres of surfing beach. If surfing is more your style, then there are plenty of beaches to choose from. Coolum offers great swells and Marcoola Beach to the south is small town which is centrally located and offers sea kayaking and scuba diving as well as some great surfing. Fishing in the surf is fun - but fishing in Coolum Creek brings the better catches. Catch some jew fish on live bait at the mouth or enjoy a fishing charter for some deep sea fishing. Mount Coolum offers the best of all worlds for a holiday or that sea change you have been hankering after.
